Feeling down, sad, and unhappy is a terrible feeling that nobody should have to live with, but the fact is that it is very common -an estimated 15 million people in USA suffer from "depression". And most of them can't figure out how to control it.
I do not claim I can help everyone. However, this method has helped many, and hopefully it can help you take full control over how you feel, and give you a very good chance of removing depressing feelings once and for all.
A common practice is to prescribe medication to control the feeling of depression. Anti depressant drugs is frequently featured in TV, radio, newspaper and magazine ads promising, to end the feeling of depression.
I am very concerned with the way these ads fuel the notion that depression itself is the problem. That in my opinion, and many agree with me, is not that case.. Depression in most cases is caused by underlying reasons. Something causes us to feel depressed.
We are NOT depressed. We FEEL depressed, There is a difference between being something and feeling something. A very important difference!
How can taking anti depressant drugs address the many underlying reasons for feeling depressed? It does not make sense?
Unfortunately these drugs only mask or suppress the feelings of depression, they never address or affect the source , so the real problems causing the feelings of depression are still there! Drugs in reality works AGAINST your body not WITH it.
However, a lot of people do feel better taking medication to suppress the feeling of depression, so they keep taking it thinking it is the only solution. I fully understand this and I don't blame anyone for turning to these types of drugs for relief from the pain of feeling depressed.
Many have tried other avenues like; reading self-help books, listen to tapes and DVDs, others seek out professional help. If this does not help, frustration sets in, and turning to anti depressants seem for some like an alternative worth trying… but by doing so, many become depended on this since it gives temporarily relief and false hope!

You only need to apply a simple technique that you can learn in a short time. When you know how, you will be able to quickly end any sad feelings the moment they appear, and immediately start feeling good. Imagine being back on track in seconds and feel great!
You are only depressed when you know you feel depressed. As long as you can say to yourself "I feel depressed," you can do this! This is the second important step towards a happy life.
And that's it! Only these two conditions need to be present for this to work.
- You have a desire to feel happy and you want it more that anything else and
- You know (feel) when you feel depressed.
Most people that experience feelings of depression can relate to these two conditions. --The desire to be happy is always present. --The feeling of depression reminding them that they are depressed.
To understand how and why my method works please read the next paragraphs carefully. I have made this as clear and to the point as possible, free of medical and technical language. Over half of my readers are from foreign countries and I want everyone to understand this.
What I will attempting to prove is that to feel depressed is a feeling equal to many other feelings we experience each and every day. How we react to theses feelings is what matters...and as you soon will see we react to most feelings in an almost similar way. Feelings are called feelings because that is what they are....nothing else. A feeling is not a condition. Our body use feelings to communicate with us.
How does a feeling reach us?
Our body is equipped with millions of sensors that work (watch out) for us day and night. These sensors pick up everything that takes place around and inside our body. I call them our “Personal Security and Warning System”.
These sensors constantly send information to a place in our brain that I call: “The Central Command Center” informing us what is going on around and inside us. Our "Command Center" process and evaluate this flow of information. Some are then filtered back throughout the body as FEELINGS with a set of INSTRUCTIONS. These instructions tell us what action we should take (if any is needed) to deal with whatever caused these feelings, in other words the source.
Example: You walk out on a frozen lake and you hear cracking noises (your sensor at work). This information is sent to The Command Center. A "feeling of fear" of going through the ice is sent to you by your Command Center with instructions to stop, turn around and go back to safety.
Our body use "feelings" to communicate with us. Look at "feelings" as a language. When you feel hot you know immediately what that means. It does not have to be spelled out in words or sentences. You feel and you know. But what should you do when you feel hot? That is what the instructions tell you.
Every feeling you can "feel" have a set of instructions that will "instruct" you to take some sort of action.
The majority of these instructions are executed without us knowing about them. It’s a completely automatic process.
Example: If you start running, your body’s sensors soon detect a need for more oxygen and sends this information to “The Command Center”, here it is determined that the proper cause of action is (among many others); to increase your heart beat and instruct your lungs to perform deeper breaths so more oxygen can be produced and distributed to the organs that need it.
This is an example of an automatic reaction to something your sensors detected. In this case you don’t have to do anything. You do not have to instruct your heart to beat faster.
However, if you keep running and pushing yourself to the point where the sensors detect difficulties with supplying enough oxygen, the sensors will send out an emergency message to "The Command Center". "The Command Center" immediately responds and sends out a signal in form of a " feeling of pain" (located mostly in the chest area). You feel this pain. Now it is up to you to make a decision. How do you stop the pain?. You get this answer from the instructions following the "feeling of chest pain". The answer to this situation is to slow down.
This is a type of "feeling" we feel physically and we need to perform an action to end it. Our action will be according to the instructions; that say we should slow down.
Imagine on your run, you start crossing a street without looking, you hear a car blow its horn. From the loud sound of the horn you know the car is close and you immediately feel danger.
This is an example of a mental feeling sent to you by your "Command Center". The feeling of "danger of being hit by a car".
This is what took place in a split second:
Your hearing sensors picked up the loud horn, sent this message to "The Command Center" which quickly determined this was out of the ordinary and sent a signal of "feeling of danger" to you. With this feeling of danger is a set of instructions telling you to immediately stop, look, and turn back to safety.
So feelings can be "invisible" (making internal organs adjust to changes), physical (feeling pain) and mental (feeling danger). The last two have instructions telling us what to do when we feel these "feelings".
Some of the common physical and mental feelings we experience are:

These are all feelings and requires different types of responses, the instructions will tell us what they are. Some don't need any action some need immediate action. Things that feel good we want to last, and things that feel bad we want to END,
The process whether it is a bad feeling or a good one is the same:

It is important that you understand that FEELINGS good or bad, physical or mental are FEELINGS ONLY, nothing else. You can call them SIGNALS or MESSAGES from a friend trying to help you.
They are not the CAUSE of your pain or pleasure, they are only INFORMING you how you FEEL at the moment. When you understand this a completely new path opens up for you take control over how you feel.
A FEELING brings you a MESSAGE, an INSTRUCTION describing how you should deal with this feeling.
The instructions are “written” by us and come from experiences with similar events. If we never had been in a situation where a car honked its horn at us we would not have been able to act so quickly. But, most of us have been in or observed similar situations and learned how to react (the instructions were written already). If this event occur many times it will almost become automatic; you'll heard the horn and you'll jump back without having to think about it.
Example: Imagine that you put your hand over a candle light by accident. The sensors feel the hot flame, sends a signal to your brain ("The Command Center") to process this. A message in form of a feeling of being burnt is sent back to you. Attached to this feeling is also the instruction on how to deal with this, in this case; remove your hand from the flame.
This all happens in a split second and is an automatic action. You really don’t need to think this through. You feel the hot flame and instantly withdraw your hand. If this is the first time you experience this, you will learn from this and hopefully not do it again. If you have done this before this is a painful reminder and should teach you a final lesson not to do it again.
In the examples above, everything worked out the way it was suppose to. The important parts you need to pay attention to are the feeling and the instruction. When you apply the right instruction you are correcting the problem that caused the bad feeling. In this case you will remove your hand.

In almost all cases, when we feel something we act and do the right thing. We have the right instructions.
This works for physical feelings as well as mental feelings. That's how our body is set up to handle ANY feeling/signal we receive. It's a natural process that works with your body, not against it.
But, for some reason when we are faced with emotional BAD FEELINGS like depression-type feelings we often fail to make the correct decisions. These type of feelings are still the same as "physical feelings" and need to be addressed the same way.
But why are we not doing that?
The feeling of depression is triggered by “something” that our sensors pick up. A few are triggered by medical complications (I address this later). But, most are created by us thinking of sad and upsetting events or situations.
As you now know, when the feeling of depression is sent to us by our "Command Center" it is a SIGNAL to us to take action according to the instructions attached.
But, what if there are no instructions or the instructions are wrong?
Then, what do we do?
And that’s why many fail. The instructions does not give us the proper action to take…they are inadequate or wrong.
In many cases they are plain wrong…the instructions trick you to believe the feeling of depression is the problem. The instructions fail to guide you to the real source for the bad feeling, hence preventing you from taking the correct action that will stop the feeling of depression. The result is really; No Result -- you continue feeling depressed.

When the instructions are wrong or not being followed a common mistake is too act on the feeling itself, not the real source (bad event).
One of the reason for this is:
Growing up, you heard over and over again that the feeling of depression is a condition, an illness that people suffers from. Yes, depression makes you suffer but it is NOT the real problem, it’s just the signal or "the messenger".
If you are told that people are suffering from depression enough times you unknowingly will rewrite the instructions for handling bad feelings. You have fallen into the trap of thinking depression is a cause.
If you don’t have the right instruction you can NOT fix the problem.
THINK ABOUT THIS:
If you believe that the feeling of depression is the source of why you feel depressed you will have a very difficult time succeeding in getting rid of the feelings of depression.
If you are trying to find ways to "cure" the feeling of depression, you are trying to "kill the messenger". The problem with this is that your "Command Center" will keep sending messengers as long as it receive information from your sensors that "something is wrong....and they will keep coming ... unless you get the right instructions, and find the source and a way for this source not to affect you anymore. You can't keep killing the messengers, you need to listen and act on the source.
I will show you how. And you will once and for all be able to control the feeling of depression and any feeling that makes you feel bad.
The instructions on how to deal with depressing feelings are written sometime after we were born. Unlike the type of instruction we were born with such as the ones that go with the feelings we feel when we are hungry. When we were babies we cried when the feeling of hunger struck us. That’s what the instructions told us and since we could not communicate verbally, that worked well for us. Later in life we rewrote the instructions several times. But we did not change them, we improved and matched them with our abilities to respond and apply the correct action to stop the feeling of being hungry.
Instructions change and evolve throughout life, they are not all set in stone.
Early in life we do not get into situations that our sensors pick up as emotional problems. We don’t really experience depressing feelings when we are infants. All we care about is food, sleep and having fun.
As we grow up, we are exposed to emotional situations or events that produce sad feelings. If we don't have the right instructions we can't act correctly and end these feelings. How would we have the right instructions if nobody told us what they were? There is an action that we are born with that we can apply in these situations but few understand what that action is and how it would work. I'll show and explain that to you.
Instead of doing the right thing we copy instructions based on what other tells us and what we observe . Major influential contributors are our parents, friends, movies, song lyrics...etc They are using terms like:
- "I feel depressed".
- "Depression caused me to..."
- "I'm so depressed today" .
- "This depression is getting to me".
- "I suffer from depression."
- "I take medication for my depression
- "Eating good food helps my depression"
- "Shopping makes me not feel so depressed"
These all feeds into the notion that depression is a condition and a cause. And the only way to end it is to find ways to suppress this feeling... This is wrong and will not end the feeling of depression. It will only prolong it and in many cases make it worse.
I will help you find the right instructions so you can start applying the correct action to any event that makes you feel bad and end it.
Many write me with the question: "I was told that my depression comes from a chemical imbalance or other medical complications, what can I do?"
A medical condition may be the cause, but I have seen many misdiagnose this, and later find out that it was not medically related... They read my book, applied the method, and that fixed their problem.
But I do agree that some really have a medical situation causing them to feel depressed. They need professional help.
If this is the case, I suggest:
- First read my book.
- Apply the method I describe. You will learn how to handle depressing feelings. When you know this, it is much easier to determine if you have a medical condition or not. Very often you will see that you don’t really have one.
- If you do have medical condition, learning my method for dealing with depressing feelings could help you immensely with the recovery from your medical condition. My method will help you sort out the different feelings since it is likely you have a combination of self induced causes that triggers depressing feelings and one or more medical causes. Getting these separated and dealt with correctly will greatly enhance your changes for a quick recovery back to a happy state of mind.

I need to take you back to the candlelight example one more time:
Most people would not try to find ways to “deal with” the feeling of pain from the flame. They know that removing the hand will get rid of the pain - they act on the event not the feeling. One could use drugs or painkillers in an attempt to tolerate the pain, but that would not make any sense.
But that's is precisely what many do when it relates to mental pain. They do NOT address the event. Many even don't know after some time what the event is anymore. They are so focused on the feeling of depression that they get depressed from feeling depressed all the time. The cause is now hidden or forgotten under several "layers" of feelings of depression. The feelings of depression always originates from somewhere ... you must find it... I'll help you!
In this case therapy does sometimes help, it can get you to the event. But, often after therapy is over, the feeling of depression reappears, because in therapy you...
- Will identify the EVENTS that cause you to feel bad (this is good).
- Confront these EVENTS.
- Try to make these EVENTS “good or acceptable ” so you can live with them (this is not so good).
Number 3 above, attempting to turn a bad event into a good event may only work for a short time because...
To change an event that you feel bad about into a good event is difficult and usually does not work in the long run. That would be as if you tried to make the pain you feel from the candlelight a good event that you could handle and live with…something that would not go well with most people.
When you think about an event like:
- The loss of a dear pet,
- A family member that passed away,
- A close and dear friend that moved away.
These events will make most people feel sad and some depressed. An attempt to make these "good events" are almost impossible. These events will always trigger sad feelings...this can't be changed, but using my method they will no longer hurt you. There is a way to deal with these sorts of events.
Many experience an added frustration with themselves when they are unable to make a bad event acceptable or good. They feel they failed and that feeling often enhances the feeling of depression even more, and that's the opposite of what we want to accomplish.
I want to make one thing clear ( I get this question often). This is not based on affirmations or any religion. It does not matter what your personal beliefs are.... this works for everybody. And there are no tapes or CDs to listen to or thick books to read.
